For example - Corrugated boxes are used to pack the product to ship from one place to another and make sure that no damage is being done to it.
What is the 5 importance of packaging?
As we have talked about in the definition of packaging in the above section. That packaging is used to protect the product from damage which is true but nowadays packaging plays an important role besides protecting the product.
Due to the cutthroat competition in the market, it is necessary to use all the things that brands and companies have to their fullest.
One of those things is the packaging. As long as you are selling something that is product-based then you will always have packaging.
In this section, we will talk about the five importance of packaging in the following list.
This is a well-known fact that we have to do something so that our product does not get broken or tampered with during transit. There are different kinds of protective packaging available.
As we have explained in the beginning and talked about this fact. We will not talk about this any further.
Build brand story
A brand story is a set of beliefs and rules that a brand makes. The reason for making a brand story is to connect with the customer as people feel more connected to a brand. It is an excellent way to get popular among your target audience.
If a brand story is a soul then sales are the blood of a brand. Undoubtedly, all businesses want to have high and improved sales all the time.
Though it is not possible for sales to always top the chart. But one thing is possible the product sells itself off.
This is possible with the help of effective product packaging. This concludes that packaging should tell off the brand story itself and resonate with the target audience so that it is sold quickly.
No matter how good a product is. Always remember one thing that even before a customer uses a product, they hold the packaging first.
Trust is an extremely important thing in this customer and brand relationship and fragile as well.
What are the main types of packaging?
As many types of packaging solutions are present in the market. As there are more and more packaging solutions that are being invented it is making things difficult to classify.
So here, we will classify the packaging based on two things. First, is usage and distribution. The second is the medium of sales.
Based on usage and distribution. Packaging is divided into 3 parts:
Primary packaging is the kind of product that is in direct contact with the product.
For example - A toothpaste tube which contains toothpaste will be considered primary packaging.
Secondary packaging is the packaging that covers the primary packaging. This packaging comes with direct contact with the customer.
Secondary packaging is responsible for attracting the customer as well as sales.
An example of this packaging would be the cardboard box that covers the toothpaste tube which is our primary packaging.
This is the last form of packaging that is responsible for protecting the product with its secondary packaging. This packaging is used while shipping the products from the warehouse to the seller or a retail store.
The corrugated box wrapped up in the corrugated box will be considered tertiary packaging.
Based on the medium of sales. We have divided this packaging into two types which are
Retail packaging is similar to secondary packaging when it comes to its looks and responsibility.
Retail packaging is the type of packaging that is responsible for attracting the customer and pursuing them to buy the product.
There are more things about retail packaging which make it different from eCommerce packaging.
One of these things is that the packaging is not designed to protect the product from damage as it plays the role of aesthetically pleasing packaging.
As the requirements of retail products are different than the e-commerce packaging type. A key difference is the amount of time that these products get to make an impact on the customer and impress your customer which is barely a second or two.
eCommerce packaging is different as most of the time this packaging does not have a physical store. As these stores are online, they tend to lack the trust and relationship that a retail store has between customers and the shop itself.
These types of packaging are designed in such a way that will engage the customers while they open the box they should get a satisfying and happy unboxing experience.
This is extremely important as building trust becomes a challenge for an online brand that operates solely on the Internet.
Not just that this packaging is sturdier than its retail counterpart because they are directly shipped from the warehouse to the customers which they should be sturdy and strong.
From the packaging that we see on the shelf to the packaging to the packaging that we get when we order any online product. We have tried to talk about all of the basics of packing like the whys and whats.
Then, we have covered the importance as well as the different types of boxes that we see all over the market.
Hope that we were able to clear up all the doubts and confusion.
